Videophiles can't resist Sony's high-performance XBRs
If you obsess about your TV's picture quality, Sony's KDL-46XBR9 is the cure. It displays images with exceptional detail and color, and no LCD TV is better at bringing smooth, smear-free motion to fast-action sports and movies. And if your home has broadband Internet service, you can view several popular websites on this high-def TV screen instead of on a cramped computer monitor.
Motionflow 240Hz ensures naturally smooth motion
There's more than one way to reduce motion blur in an LCD TV, but Sony's Motionflow processing has proven to be one of the most sophisticated and effective. This 240Hz version quadruples the video frame rate by inserting three entirely new frames for each original frame. The system analyzes the motion of specific on-screen objects as well as overall movement in each scene, adjusting the amount of enhancement to create seamlessly smooth, sharp pictures.
Enjoy cleaner-looking non-HD video, too
High-def video looks amazing, but most of us will continue to watch some standard-def programs for a while yet. And that's when you'll appreciate the KDL-46XBR9's powerful video processing. BRAVIA Engine 3 is Sony's latest and most complete solution for improving the look of lower-quality video. The system works on a scene-by-scene basis to reduce noise, adjust colors, and better define the edges of images.
A better backlight produces more lifelike colors
In an LCD television, the backlight determines the range of colors the TV can reproduce. A wider color range means that more vivid colors can be displayed. The KDL-46XBR9's wide color gamut backlight produces a specific spectrum of light optimized for Sony's special color filters. The system reproduces more of the full broadcast TV color range 25% more than standard backlights.
Stay connected to the latest high-def sources and to the Internet
The KDL-46XBR9's array of audio/video connections includes four HDMI inputs for maximizing the picture quality of high-def video sources like Blu-ray players. If you have broadband Internet service, you can connect this TV to your wired home network for more entertainment options. You can use the XBR9's built-in on-screen web "widgets" to check real-time info like news and weather. And BRAVIA Internet Video lets you stream clips from YouTube® and movies from Amazon Video on Demand.
